FAQ About Fees and Shop Norms

Course price changes: Due to recent volatility in the financial world, our prices may vary without notice in order to keep up with rising expenses. 

  1. A non-refundable deposit of $1000 is required to hold your bench.
  2. The full tuition must be paid 1 week prior to the first day of your course.
  3. If you withdraw, your $1000 deposit will be forfeit. You may however use that money towards any guitar purchase in the Blackwood Store, or for a later course deposit should you return at a later date.
  4. No refunds will be made once the course begins. If a student leaves early, all fees will be applied for upgraded wood and/or supplies, along with accommodations for the duration, plus taxes. 
  5. We have a ZERO tolerance policy for anyone displaying violent or aggressive behavior. If this occurs, the student will be removed immediately. There will be no refunds in this situation.
  6. If for any reason Blackwood has to cancel a course, you will get all of your money back.
  7. Accommodations are available as a package for the 35 days of the course at a cost of $1,900 plus tax. The room includes access to a washroom and kitchenette.
  8. Bring your own lunch. Lunch will be from 12 noon until 1pm daily.
  9. The shop will be open from 9 until noon on Saturdays.
  10. Sundays we are closed.
  11. Washroom access is on the lower side of the house.
  12. No alcohol, pot, or other substances that make you dangerous.
  13. If you are unsure about using a machine, ask, and you will get assistance to keep you safe.
  14. You understand that woodworking includes hazards with machinery and hand tools. You accept this fact and will not hold Blackwood responsible in any way for personal injury.
  15. You may make a second guitar during your stay. There will be an additional fee of $1000. Teaching assistance will only be available on guitar #1.
  16. Shop cleanup will be called at 4:30 pm daily.
  17. You are responsible for bringing your own Personal Protection Equipment such as safety glasses, dust masks, and hearing protection.
  18. Feel free to bring your own hand tools.
  19. Parking is available in the lower driveway.
  20. All materials to build one acoustic guitar are supplied.
  21. Course length is 5-weeks.
  22. Enjoy your stay, this is always a great time!
